Britain said in its daily update of the Covid-19 death statistics today, Sunday, that it registered 596 new cases in hospitals, which raised the total in the country to more than 16 thousand
A minister said that the government is still targeting 100,000 examinations daily.
Britain witnessed the fifth highest death toll due to the epidemic that killed about 160 thousand people in the world.
The Ministry of Health said hospital deaths had risen to 16,060 as of 1600 GMT Saturday, after the smallest increase since the data was released on April 6.
Earlier today, Sunday, British Cabinet Secretary Michael Gouve expressed confidence that the government will reach its goal of conducting 100,000 examinations a day to detect injuries by the end of the month.
The Ministry of Health said that 21626 examinations were performed on Saturday.
Goff also said his country was not considering lifting general isolation measures that were imposed nearly four weeks ago to control the spread of the Coruna virus in light of “very worrying” increases in the number of deaths.
Britain became at the height of or close to the disease after it claimed the lives of more than 16,000, the fifth highest in the world for the victims of the pandemic, which caused at least 150,000 deaths around the world.
Goff said the Bazfid newsletter report, which stated that the government was considering lifting isolation measures in stages over the coming months, was not true.
“The facts and guidelines are currently clear that we should not consider lifting these restrictions yet,” Goff told Sky News.
Amidst the pressures hospitals face, health workers criticize government guidance that they can reuse their personal protective supplies while caring for HIV-infected patients, amidst declining supplies nationwide.
A government official said the delivery of a shipment of these supplies from Turkey had been delayed after ministers said they would arrive on Sunday.
