After an attack on the Cuban Embassy in Washington, China on Tuesday called on the US to ensure the safety of diplomatic missions and personnel.
In response to reports of a “terrorist attack” on the Cuban Embassy in Washington, a Foreign Ministry spokesperson said the US side must investigate the truth, solve the case as soon as possible, and take practical and effective measures to ensure the safety of diplomatic institutions and personnel, state-run Global Times reported.
The Embassy of Cuba in Washington was “the target of a terrorist attack by an individual who launched 2 Molotov cocktails” on Sunday night, according to Cuba’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla.
Embassy staff “suffered no harm” and “details are being worked out,” Parrilla wrote on X.
“This is the second violent attack against #Cuba’s diplomatic mission,” he added.
On Monday, White House national security adviser Jake Sullivan strongly condemned reports of an attack on the Cuban Embassy and said attacks against diplomatic facilities are unacceptable.
“We are in contact with Cuban Embassy officials and law enforcement authorities to ensure an appropriate and timely investigation as well as to offer our support for future protective efforts,” Sullivan said in a statement.
