Palestinian teen injured in knife attack by Israeli settler

An Israeli settler has wounded a Palestinian teenager in a sudden knife attack in Jerusalem al-Quds.

The stabbing attack took place in Salahuddin Street in central Jerusalem al-Quds on Sunday night.   17-year-old Mohamed al-Natsha was rushed to hospital for medical assistance after suffering a moderate injury in his neck, according to local sources.

There was no information if the Israeli police have arrested the stabber. Tensions have been running high in the occupied territories amid plans by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s new coalition administration to impose Tel Aviv’s “sovereignty” over Israeli settlements and the strategic Jordan Valley in the occupied West Bank.

US President Donald Trump’s self-proclaimed “deal of the century,” which was unveiled in January, effectively granted Israel a green light for the annexation in flagrant violation of international law. For Palestinians and much of the international community, the annexation plan amounts to a grave violation of international law and would dash hopes of a solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Over half a million Israelis live in more than 230 illegal settlements built since the 1967 Israeli occupation of the Palestinian territories of the West Bank including East Jerusalem al-Quds.

All Israeli settlements are illegal under international law. Settlers attack Palestinian driver in northern Ramallah In a separate incident on Sunday, a group of Israeli settlers attacked a Palestinian car in northern Ramallah.  Eyewitnesses said the driver, identified as Yazan Dawabsha, from the town of Duma, southeast of Nablus City in the occupied West Bank, was driving on a road near the villages of Khirbet Abu Falah and al-Mughayyir when the settlers showered his car with rocks.

Dawabsha was driving back from the West Bank city of Ramallah to Nablus when the incident happened. He was not injured in the attack, but his car sustained huge damage. For years, Israel has clearly allowed its settlers to assault Palestinians and inflict damage on their property as one of its policies. This has included provision of military protection for the attackers, and in some cases troopers’ active participation in the assault. Palestinians want the West Bank as part of a future independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem al-Quds as its capital.
