UNAMI: Iraqis Face Many Challenges And Their Right To Peaceful Protest Must Be Protected

The United Nations Mission in Iraq / UNAMI / condemned the violence and human losses that occurred in Tahrir Square, central Baghdad, last night.

In a statement received by the Iraqi National News Agency (NINA), said “We deplore the violence and casualties during Baghdad protests last night. We welcome government commitment to investigate and hold perpetrators accountable. Iraqis are in a difficult place facing many challenges. Their right to peaceful protest must be protected unconditionally.”
