Amazon is to create more than 10,000 new permanent UK jobs this year across its corporate offices, Amazon Web Services division and its operations network.
The move will take the online retail giant’s total UK workforce to more than 55,000 by the end of the year.
Corporate roles will be available in Amazon’s offices in London, Manchester, Edinburgh and Cambridge and will span the fields of fashion, digital marketing, engineering, video production, software development, cloud computing, AI and machine learning, and more.
Meanwhile, operations roles will be based at four new fulfilment centres and at Amazon’s new parcel receive centre in Doncaster, as well as within the retailer’s delivery station network. In addition to positions for people who pick, pack and ship customer orders, jobs will include roles for engineering, HR, IT, health and safety, and finance specialists.
The locations of the new fulfilment centres will include Hinckley, Dartford, Gateshead and Swindon. Each facility will create more than 1,300 permanent jobs later this year.
Amazon has also confirmed that it will invest £10 million over three years in training up to 5,000 employees in new skills and to support the Government’s investment programme. The training will be offered through Amazon’s Career Choice programme, where the company pays course fees for its employees who have expressed an interest in pursuing a career outside of the business.

For people whose ambitions fall outside of our company, we are pleased to support them by paying for training and academic courses that can get them to where they want to be.”
Amazon has previously announced that it will be creating 1,000 full-time apprenticeships roles in 2021.
