US police misconduct on Jan. 6 described in report for defense attorneys

The US Justice Department (DOJ) will hand Jan. 6 protesters’ attorneys documents describing police misconduct during the demonstration on Capitol Hill.

Lawyers will receive the evidence in response to requests for information, Politico reported on Monday.

They had previously inquired about allegations that some officers may have been “complicit in the January 6 Capitol Breach,” according to a filing written by Assistant US Attorney Brandon Regan.

“We have received copies of investigations into officer conduct, have finished reviewing them, and plan to disclose the relevant materials shortly,” he said.

Democrats have accused the Trump supporters of insurrection by storming the Congress after the former president officially lost the 2020 race to now-President Joe Biden.

Some footage has been released of the protest, apparently showing cops moving barricades so that the demonstrators can break through.

The Democrats, who hold majority in both chambers of Congress, are still hunting for the protesters some of whom remain unidentified to this day.

There are said to be more than 500 riot cases so far, involving those incited by the former president to prevent the certification of Biden’s victory by Congress.

Meanwhile, Trump keeps asserting that he actually won the November race against Biden, whom he accuses of having become president through voter fraud.
