The National Security Adviser, Qassem Al-Araji, called on the United States of America to pressure countries to withdraw their nationals from al-Hol border camp.
The Chancellery said in a statement: “Al-Araji met in his office today, Wednesday, with the new US ambassador to Baghdad, Alina Romanowski.”
Al-Araji welcomed Romanowski, wishing her success in her new duties, as the US ambassador to Iraq.
He stressed, “The terrorist threat from ISIS still exists, and the international community must remain coherent to confront this danger.”
The National Security Adviser called on the United States of America to pressure countries to withdraw their nationals from al-Hol border camp, and that there be a real will for countries to receive them.
For her part, the US ambassador pointed out: “The Strategic Framework Agreement is a vital agreement that regulates the relationship between Iraq and the United States, and it is a road map,” stressing that her country is working to stabilize Iraq and work with it together, in order to defeat terrorism.
Romanowski also expressed her country’s quest to develop the relationship with Iraq, indicating: “The presence through the international coalition is an important thing, in order to provide advice, empowerment and assistance.”
She stressed the importance of countries receiving their nationals who are in al-Hol camp, noting that her country is aware of the size of the problem and its complexities, calling on those countries to work to change the extremist ideology carried by these nationals, stressing the continuation of cooperation with Iraq in this field.
