Al-Halboosi’s resignation rejected in a vote of confidence

A majority of 222 Iraqi lawmakers voted to reject the resignation of speaker Mohammad al-Halboosi, the latter’s bureau said in a brief press release on Wednesday.

According to the press release, only 13 of the 235 parliamentarians, who attended the session presided by deputy speaker Shakhwan Abdullah, approved al-Halboosi’s resignation.
