The Iraqi Minister of Foreign Affairs, Fuad Hussein, discussed on Tuesday reopening the Swiss embassy in Baghdad with the Swiss Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ignazio Cassis, during a meeting held on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum in the Swiss city of Davos, according to a press statement issued by the Iraqi Foreign Ministry.
The statement mentioned that both sides discussed the bilateral relations between the two countries, in addition to issues of common interest.
Hussein talked about the situation in the region, stressing that Iraq played a role in bringing the views of some regional countries closer, to create a state of regional stability, the statement explained.
The Iraqi Foreign Minister also discussed reopening the Swiss embassy in Baghdad to be a starting point for attracting Swiss investments and companies to Iraq, the statement elaborated.
Hussein emphasized the need to benefit from the Swiss experience in managing demographic diversity and its reflection on the democratic process, the statement clarified.
Cassis confirmed that he strongly supports reopening the Swiss embassy in Baghdad to promote broader prospects for the relationship between the two sides, the statement added.
