At least three Turkish officials have been killed in a shooting in the Iraqi Kurdistan capital of Erbil on Wednesday, sources say.
The incident took place when unknown gunmen opened fire at a restaurant where the diplomats were dinning, two Kurdish security officials confirmed to Reuters.
Deputy Turkish consul in Erbil was one of three diplomats shot dead, Iraqi state TV and Turkish media said.
“Three people, including the Turkish vice-consul, were killed in an armed attack targeting the consul and the consulate’s employees in a restaurant in Arbil,” a police source told AFP.
The Turkish foreign ministry said a Turkish consulate employee was also killed in the attack.
