The Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) said on Saturday that several Islamic State (IS) detainees managed to escape a prison in northern Syria as the region is being challenged by the Turkish offensive.
SDF’s Cooperation and Military Operations Center released the footage from a CCTV camera showing several people, allegedly IS detainees, running out of a building.
The center said the detained jihadists escaped from Jirkin prison in Qamishli.
Previously on Friday, local reports said that the families of IS militants held in al-Hol Camp had attempted to break out of the guarded area while the Kurdish forces are more focused on defending their areas against the Turkish offensives. However, there was no report of any successful escape from the camp.
