Catalan protesters clashes with police at France border.

Traffic on the main highway between Spain and France remained at a standstill on Wednesday morning, as the unrest at the La Jonquera border point near Girona entered its third day.

Footage on the Spanish side of the border shows protesters burning tires and blocking the road with trees, tires, and parts of a metal road fence.

On Monday, hundreds of Catalan protesters blocked the highway between Spain and France as they lined both sides of the AP7 highway at the La Jonquera border point.

The direct action was reportedly organized by the Tsunami Democratic activist group, which campaigns for Catalan independence.

The autonomous region has been in the grip of mass protests since mid-October after a court handed lengthy prison sentences to Catalan politicians.
