US President Donald Trump has not asked permission from Iraq for a US military presence to monitor Iran, President Barham Saleh said Monday, stressing Iraq’s refusal to use its territory as a base for attacks on other countries.
“US President Donald Trump did not ask permission from Iraq to deploy US troops in the country to monitor Iran,” Saleh said.
Saleh added that “Iraq refuses to be his territory starting to attack other countries because the Constitution prevents this,” pointing out that “the government will wait for clarification on the numbers of US forces and its mission.”
