Iraq’s Armed Forces open investigation into the bombing in Baghdad

Iraq’s Armed Forces opened an investigation this Monday to determine the origin and perpetrators of a rocket bombing that hit the Baghdad Green Zone, where embassies and government offices reside.

A report shows that at least five Katyusha-type projectiles hit the site and four of them within the US diplomatic legation complex causing no victims so far.

The press release sent to the press by Iraqi military commanders condemns such an attack that is not the first recorded in less than a month.

According to Iraqi military authorities’ judgment, that kind of irresponsible incident harms the country and its relations with other States, while it could turn it into a battlefield.

In a statement, the prime minister’s office repudiated the bombings that contribute more than anything else to weaken the role of the State, undermine national sovereignty and the sanctity of diplomatic missions.
