Iraqi Parliament: The Crisis Cell will extend the curfew

The Parliamentary Security and Defense Committee announced on Saturday, its support for the security measures taken on the curfew, while it expected that the crisis cell would extend the curfew.

Committee member, Bader Al-Ziyadi said that “In the beginning, the curfew was not implemented correctly by the security services and citizens, but after a decision was issued by the Supreme Judicial Council and the security forces were directed to arrest those who violate the curfew and underestimated the risk of Coronavirus, giving immunity Security services and the application of the curfew 100%. “

He added that “due to the health reality and the lack of real prevention of Coronavirus and underestimation of the curfew by citizens, the crisis cell formed by the Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces will take a decision, later on, to extend the curfew in order to isolate cities within the provinces and control the outbreak of the virus.”

Al-Ziyadi indicated that “the crisis cell is the authority designated to extend the time of the curfew wither for a day or a week, according to the measures taken by the cell.”

The government crisis cell for fighting Corona Virus decided on Sunday (15 – 3 -2020) to impose a comprehensive curfew in Baghdad for a week to reduce the spread of the new Coronavirus.

On Thursday, the Crisis Cell in Iraq suggested extending the curfew decision in the capital, Baghdad, and the rest of the Iraqi provinces, as part of combating the spread of Coronavirus.
