Spanish ministers warned today, Wednesday, that the future of the European Union is in danger if it is unable to reach a joint financial response to combat the emerging Corona virus, after the union failed to agree to issue a joint debt to fight the crisis.
According to Reuters news agency, Spanish government spokeswoman Maria Jesus Monteiro said that the Europeans will start to lose confidence in the European Union if they do not work together in the crisis, which it compared to World War II.
Agriculture Minister Luis Planas echoed similar statements, according to the agency, but both officials also said they were optimistic that more negotiations would eventually lead to positive results.
Spain is now the country most affected by the outbreak of the Corona virus emerging in Europe, in terms of the number of infections, and it is the second most affected country globally after the United States, followed directly by Italy, France and Germany, which each recorded more than 100,000 infections so far.
In terms of deaths, Italy is the country most affected globally with more than 17 thousand deaths from the virus, followed by Spain with 14 thousand deaths, then the United States with 12 thousand deaths, then France with 10.3 thousand deaths, and the United Kingdom with more than 6 thousand deaths .
