Hydroxychloroquine has failed to treat the Coronavirus

American scientists have proven the failure of a drug called “hydroxychloroquine” in the treatment of corona virus.
The researchers analyzed data for 368 patients who took “hydroxychloroquine”, with or without an antibiotic, to treat a number of bacterial infections, according to Associated Press.

The research showed the death of 28 percent of patients who took the drug without an antibiotic (azithromycin), and 22 percent of those who treated the drug with the antibiotic, compared to the death of 11 percent of those who received routine care only.

The scientists explained that the drug “hydroxychloroquine” did not make any difference in the need for a respiratory system, and they expect that the drug may have caused damage to other organs. The drug is known to have serious side effects, including changing the heartbeat in a way that can lead to sudden death.

“I think we are disappointed,” said Nazia Safdar, medical director of infection control and prevention at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She noted that many patients asked about the drug after Trump promoted it, but now “I think people have realized that we do not know whether (the drug) is working or not,” and he needs further study.
