The head of the World Meteorological Organization believes that the Corona virus pandemic will reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 6% this year, which will be the largest annual decline since World War II.
“This crisis has had an impact on greenhouse gas emissions,” said Petteri Talas, head of the organization, at a hypothetical press conference in Geneva on Wednesday.
He added, “We estimate that there will be a 6% decrease in carbon emissions this year due to the lack of emissions from transportation and industrial energy production.”
Because of the outbreak in most parts of the world, many countries have taken restrictive measures to combat the spread and spread of Corona.
It imposed general isolation and prohibited movement except at certain hours, some prevented it completely, except in cases of extreme necessity, and closed stores, public centers, and some government departments.
It also stopped internal movements, travel and airport traffic as a precautionary measure, with the exception of the necessary ones, which, according to experts, contributed to alleviating the manifestations of pollution in many countries of the world.
