Sana’a announces the registration of the first case of corona for a Somali immigrant

The Minister of Public Health in Yemen, Dr. Taha Al-Mutawakkil, announced today, Tuesday, the registration of the first confirmed case of a Corona epidemic in the capital, Sanaa, for a Somali immigrant.

The Minister of Health said in a press conference held in the capital, Sanaa: We received a report about the presence of the case in a hotel in Amanat al-Asimah last Sunday, and the epidemiological investigation teams immediately moved to the hotel where the injured person was dead.

He explained that a sample of the Somali deceased was taken for laboratory testing and the result showed that he was infected with the emerging corona virus, indicating that the deceased was suffering from chronic diseases with kidney failure and chronic hepatitis.

And that the epidemiological investigation teams had preserved the body, and after that sterilization and disinfection procedures were carried out for the hotel in which it was located, and the close contacts of the case were quarantined.

The Minister of Health called on all citizens to adhere to the guidelines and precautionary measures to prevent infection with the disease and reduce mixing and presence in public markets and malls.
