The President of the Iranian Republic, Hassan Rouhani made a phone call to Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kadhimi.
“Iran will continue its sustainable support to the Iraqi government in achieving the achievements that serve the interests of its citizens,” official Iranian media quoted Rouhani as saying during the phone call on Monday.
“We were and are still on the Iraqi side and in the interests of the peoples of the two countries.”
For his part, Al-Kadhimi said, “We will never forget the support you provided us regarding Iraq’s security and stability, especially during fighting ISIS period.” Al-Kadhimi called for strengthening and consolidating relations with Tehran at all levels, considering that the whole region is passing in very sensitive conditions, but all problems can be solved with wisdom, logic and prudence. The Iraqi Prime Minister expressed his hope to overcome crises through close cooperation between the two countries.
