Twitter has attached an unprecedented warning to a tweet by Donald Trump, accusing him of “glorifying violence”. The message has been added to a tweet that appears to threaten that people caught looting will be shot amid civil unrest in Minneapolis.
Twitter’s warning came just hours after Trump said he would introduce legislation in a bid to weaken protections for social media companies, including Twitter and Facebook, in an extraordinary attempt to regulate the platforms.
US senators, meanwhile, have offered a bipartisan $3bn plan for the next health crisis, putting a premium on fighting pandemics like Covid-19. The US has now had more than 1.7 million confirmed coronavirus cases, and more than 100,000 deaths related to the disease.
