Water resources: No fears of Mosul Dam collapse

Iraqi Minister of Water Resources, Mahdi Al-Hamdani, confirmed Thursday, that there are no fears of the collapse of the Mosul Dam while stressing that remediations are available and the sustainability is continuing.

Al-Hamdani said, in an interview with the Iraqi News Agency, and seen by the “Al-Ghadeer” website, that “the Mosul dam has problems with the geological layers, and these are not new but have been diagnosed since the 1960s.”

He added, “The dam site was based on a complete study, as it is the largest water reservoir for agriculture.”
