Iraqi PM arrives Mosul on the anniversary of ISIS occupation

The Prime Minister, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Mustafa al-Kadhimi arrived on Wednesday, Mosul city, the local capital of Nineveh Governorate, northern Iraq.

A brief government statement said today that Al-Kadhimi is visiting Mosul “on the anniversary of its occupation by ISIS terrorist gangs.”

Yesterday, the governor of Nineveh issued a total curfew to be applied today, with the exceptions granted by the crisis cell, in conjunction with Al-Kadhimi’s visit.

It is noteworthy that ISIS had imposed control on areas estimated at two-thirds of the area of ​​Iraq in mid-2014, after which Iraqi forces backed by the Popular Mobilization Forces launched a military campaign that lasted for three years to expel the extremist from those areas
