A leader in the Popular Mobilization Forces, Sadiq Al-Husseini, on Wednesday, announced that PMF had thwarted 10 attempts by ISIS in which he wanted to set fire to wheat farms in Diyala Province.
Al-Husseini said, “the PMF” played an important and effective role in facing the wheat fires during the past weeks, and it succeeded in thwarting 10 ISIS attempts to set fire to more than 80,000 acres of the crop in 10 regions within Diyala Governorate.”
He added, “The PMF was mobilized in several sectors, and the formation of footbed detachments and a mechanism based on the principle of roving ambushes, in response to the pleas of farmers to save the food after the crimes of burning fields were repeated in some areas.”
Al-Husseini added that “the intervention of the PMF prevented a real catastrophe in Diyala that could lead to the loss of thousands of farmers’ sources of their livelihood due to the ISIS terrorist intent to burn their crops.”
