Iraqi parliament enters crises line of pension deductions

The Finance Committee in the Iraqi parliament, confirmed on Wednesday, the illegality and unconstitutionality of the deductions from the retiree’s salaries, without the existence of a previous government-parliamentary decision.

“The deductions from the pensioners’ salaries are illegal and unconstitutional, and they are considered a violation to the unified pension law, so deductions are not permitted, except through the presence of a decision by the Council of Ministers to be voted on by the parliament,” committee member ,Hanin Qaddo said.

“Up until now, the Council of Ministers has not announced any decision in this regard, and no decision has been reached in the parliament until it is voted upon and amended the unified pension law, for this we will have a position on this deduction by hosting the head of the retirement authority and government officials related to this issue, “ he added.

Rafidain Bank announced earlier the distribution of pensioners’ salaries for June, but civil and military retirees reported deduction of varying percentages from their salaries.
