Iraqi Foreign Ministry, on Friday, confirmed the first session of the US-Iraq dialogue, which will pave the way for other sessions to be held directly in the future.
Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesman, Ahmed Al-Sahaf, stated, “The Iraqi delegation, headed by Senior Undersecretary Abdul Karim Hashem, held with the United States government delegation the first session of the strategic dialogue via CCTV, in accordance with the strategic framework agreement signed in 2008.”
He added that “the first session of the strategic dialogue between Iraq and America witnessed the handling of economic, political, security and cultural relations between the country.”
He continued, “The two delegations confirmed their endeavor to consolidate relations under the new government headed by Mustafa Al-Kazemi.”
He pointed out that “this session will be the beginning of a series of other sessions of strategic dialogue in the hope that the next session will be held directly in Washington when the appropriate conditions are available.”
