NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg on Tuesday considered Iraq the first line of repression against global terrorism, affirming his high gratitude to the Iraqi forces that defeated terrorism on behalf of all NATO countries.
Stoltenberg said in a televised statement, followed by “The Information” that “Iraq is the first global repelling line in fighting terrorism and our presence in Iraq is to return the favor and help the Iraqi forces to defeat terrorism.”
He added, “The Iraqi forces made sacrifices in their war against terrorism, and that” ISIS “not only threatened Iraq, but also all NATO countries,” noting that “we will remain in Iraq and the call for cooperation is still in place.”
“Our presence in Iraq is not combat, and there are no military activities other than training and advice for the Iraqi armed forces in their war on terror,” said the NATO chief.
