Security sources in Al-Hash Al-Shaabi revealed, on Tuesday, that its forces destroyed multiple ISIS dens and located an explosives factory, within the third stage of the “Heroes of Iraq” campaign in Diyala, Kirkuk and Saladin.
“A force of the brigade, and among its operations that started yesterday, managed to destroy three headquarters of ISIS and dismantled two explosive devices in Al-Darawish area, east of Saladin,” the commander of the 16th Brigade of Al-Hash Al-Shaabi, Nabil al-Bashiri, told Shafaq News agency.
He stressed that, “operations to locate ISIS nests and supplies within the sector that extends from eastern Saladin to the southwest of Kirkuk, are underway”.
In the same context, the Commander of the 21st Brigade in Al-Hash Al-Shaabi, Khudayr al-Matruhi announced locating an explosive factory, east of Saladin.
In addition, a security source in the 22nd Brigade of Al-Hash Al-Shaabi said that several ISIS headquarters were found in Wadi Al-Azim, north of Diyala. Mines, explosive devices and military uniforms were found at the locations.
The source added, “Al-Hash forces are tracking down weapons caches, equipment explosives nests belonging to ISIS, based on accurate intelligence”.
On Monday, the third phase of Operation “Iraq Heroes” was launched to secure the areas connecting east of Saladin, western Diyala and southwest of Kirkuk and Samarra.
