A cartoon published by the Saudi newspaper Asharq Al-Awsat, Friday, against the supreme religious authority, His Eminence, Grand Ayatollah Ali al-Sistani, sparked a wave of discontent and widespread denunciations.
A large number of Iraqi politicians and Clerics joined by the leader of the Al-Fateh Coalition Hadi Al-Amri discontented, demanded to penalize the newspaper and address the Saudi government about this insult to the symbol of Iraq and the Iraqis.
Several MPs called on the Prime Minister and the Minister of Foreign Affairs to summon the Saudi ambassador and hand them an official protest note, stressing the importance of closing all offices of Saudi media channels and institutions inside Iraq for being a declining and takfiri media, who lives on creating crises
