Two people have been reported killed and eight others injured early Sunday, June 5, during a nightclub shooting in Greenville, South Carolina, according to the local sheriff’s office.
Quoting the local NBC news station, the US shooting occurred around 2 a.m. local time (06:00 GMT) at the Lavish Lounge, about 100 miles (160 kilometers) northwest of the state capital Columbia.
Sheriff Hobart Lewis said the shooting may have been gang related, the station said. The injured were taken to area hospitals.
Nightclubs are required to remain closed in South Carolina because of COVID-19 under an executive order by Governor Henry McMaster.
