Member of the Sadqoun Parliamentary Bloc, Mohammed Al-Baldawi, announced a proposal to advance the date of the general elections in the country to April instead of the one announced by Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kadhimi.
Al-Baldawi said in a press statement that the Sadiqoun parliamentary bloc submitted a proposal to the presidency of Al-Fateh Coalition to change and present the date of the elections to April instead of June.”
He added that “the month of April is the most appropriate date for the conduct of the elections,” noting that “the High Electoral Commission confirmed its ability to conduct it if Parliament supported it by passing and legislating laws that facilitate the conduct of the elections.”
Al-Baldawi confirmed that “the date set by Al-Kadhimi to hold the elections is not appropriate due to the high temperatures and the conduct of public examinations (the baccalaureate) and other reasons.”
