The Foreign Ministry announced that the UN Security Council had agreed to send a UN team to monitor the elections in Iraq.

“The Iraqi government’s request, in Resolution 2576, was approved unanimously, to renew the mandate of the United Nations Assistance Mission for Iraq (UNAMI), until May 27, 2022,” Foreign Ministry spokesman Ahmed Al-Sahaf said in a statement today.

He added, “the resolution includes strong elements, adopted for the first time, to send a UN team to monitor elections in Iraq (electoral monitoring) ./ End
