Iraqi Ministry of Defense condemns the terrorist attack against the Peshmerga forces

The Ministry of Defense condemned the cowardly terrorist attack on an Iraqi military unit within the Peshmerga forces while they were performing their duty on the way to Mount Mateen in Dohuk Governorate at the hands of non-Iraqi armed groups.

The Ministry stressed in a statement that the Peshmerga forces are an integral part of our armed forcesِْ and that any attack on these forces is unacceptable.

It indicated that an investigation had been opened into the incident, and every aggressor on the blood and security of Iraqis would receive a fair punishment.

It offered its sincere condolences to the families of the five martyrs from the Peshmerga forces and prayed to God Almighty to grant the other injured a speedy recovery.

The Ministry confirmed that the Iraqi armed forces, with all their formations and names, are responsible for extending national sovereignty over the entire Iraqi territory, and that they are authorized to repel any breach, whether internal or external, and each aggressor will receive his punishment.
