Prime Minister Adel Abdul Mahdi received at his residence at the King Saud Palace in Riyadh the Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), Dr. Abdul Latif Al-Zayani.
Abdul-Mahdi discussed the development of relations between Iraq and the GCC countries and issues of mutual interest and enhancing opportunities for security, stability, and economic cooperation.
He stressed that the Gulf Cooperation Council is important for Iraq and cooperation and economic relations should move forward for the better, pointing out that Iraq is keen to work within its Arab and Islamic environment and establish balanced relations to serve the interests of our peoples, and it is important that our environment stable and prosperous and we have many of commons that unite us and start to build confidence, overcome differences and create good conditions for cooperation.
For his part, the Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council, confirmed the availability of political will and the serious desire of the GCC countries to cooperate with Iraq and achieve joint and integrated work, saying : We seek to build privileged relations with Iraq, and I assure you that your brothers in the GCC is fully prepared to build bridges of cooperation with Iraq and support and we have a great desire to promote security, stability, and economic cooperation, and expressed his satisfaction with the stability of Iraq and the Iraqi government’s direction and responsiveness to the challenges with responsibility, wisdom, and cooperation.
