Iraqi forces on Tuesday used drones to destroy previously designated hideouts of Islamic State (IS) terrorists in the rural areas of southwest Kirkuk.
Country’s Security Media Cell said in a statement that drones had heavily pounded three IS hideouts in the surrounding areas of Rashad subdistrict, near Hawija, some 55 kilometers southwest of Kirkuk.
It confirmed that piles of medicines, food, clothes, mattresses, and at least two motorbikes were destroyed by the drone strikes.
Meanwhile, security forces in central Kirkuk conducted an operation to arrest a member of IS sleeper cells.
Kirkuk Police Spokesperson Amer Nouri told Alghadeer News the man was issued an arrest warrant and his location was revealed based on previous intelligence.
