According to early information, the 18-year-old deceased victim of the shooting was known to the police for drug trafficking.
An unnamed assailant fatally shot one, and stabbed three other people on 9 July near a nursery school in the 11th arrondissement of Marseille, according to reports on the BFM channel citing a police source. The assailant escaped from the crime scene. Police are hunting the man.
Reports suggest that the three people who were stabbed had rushed to the scene to help the man who was shot. However, it is still unknown whether they were attacked by the same person who had opened fire.
This comes as a 17-year-old girl was shot dead on the night of 8 July in Septèmes-Les-Vallons – she was not the intended target. She is one of several shooting victims in Marseille and the surrounding region this summer.
