Iraq’s Kurdistan region,— Up to 41 men have committed suicide in the first six months of 2021 in the Iraqi Kurdistan region, according to the union of men.
The Kurdistan Men Union said on Sunday that three additional men were killed by their wives with the support of others during the period.
Up to 279 men have also filed complaints against their wives and children for violent behavior in the first six months of 2021, according to the statistics.
“The number of suicides by men decreased in 2021 compared with previous years,” the Union said.
Men often face societal stigma when dealing with mental health issues and, therefore, do not get the help that they need.
In 2018 the Kurdistan Men Union’s statistics show up to 115 men have committed suicide.
