The Independent High Electoral Commission confirmed, today, Sunday, its commitment to holding the Iraqi Parliament elections on the tenth of next October.
The Commission stated in a statement received by Alghadeertv, that “the Chairman of the Board of Commissioners, Judge Jalil Adnan Khalaf, members of the Council and the Head of the Electoral Administration confirm their firm commitment to holding the elections of the Iraqi Parliament on the tenth of next October, and that the Commission is working on an operational schedule with timing timeframe for each stage of the electoral process.
She added that “the essence of the electoral process is evident from the transparency of the commission’s work paths, as the Board of Commissioners approved the procedures related to the centers for presenting the results of the primary elections, according to the project proposed by the United Nations Assistance Office for Iraq (UNAMI).”
“The commission is directing towards clear procedures for all partners of the electoral process (voters, parties, candidates, media and observers) and all those interested in electoral affairs by reviewing the results of the elections at their electoral stations at the level of the electoral district, where there will be a display screen of sufficient size in each electoral office to be able to everyone can watch the preliminary results in the parliamentary elections in October 2021.”
The commission pointed out that “the United Nations team is working with the Department of Information and Mass Communication with its people in the Electoral Commission, in order to develop a mechanism for tabulating the results of ratification of candidates and their electoral number, each according to their governorate and constituency, so that those interested in electoral affairs can easily search the official website of the Commission.”
In terms of proceeding with the final preparations for holding the elections, she indicated that “the Board of Commissioners approved the forms for designing the ballot papers (general voting), which include the names, numbers and slogans of candidates for the electoral districts, with a number of (83) electoral districts distributed among (19) electoral district offices, in addition to approving a form Ballot paper (special vote) for the 2021 Iraqi Council of Representatives elections.
She added, “The Council of Commissioners approved the general voter register with a number of (8273) polling centers and (55,041) polling stations, as the number of voters for general voting reached (23,986,741) after deleting the data of (43,293) dead voters whose names were received from the Ministry of Health and work is continuing within the framework of The final statements of the deceased were received from them, and the council also approved the voter register for voting for (595) special polling stations, (2584) polling stations, and (1,075,727) voters from the armed forces and security services, as well as voters from the (671) prison population Six polling stations were allocated to prison inmates in the governorates of (Dohuk, Wasit, Muthanna, Maysan, and Sulaymaniyah), and the special register included (120,126) displaced voters, as (86) polling stations were allocated to them, with a total of (309) polling stations.
And she continued, “The Electoral Commission adopts international standards in its electoral work, which became clear through the approach of disclosure and informing the public of all procedures and preparations, based on the Law of the Independent High Electoral Commission (Chapter III Powers of the Board of Commissioners Article 10 / fourth), which provides for the accreditation of observers Elections and agents of political entities, media professionals and international observers, as the Council of Commissioners had previously ratified the media system and the system of agents’ agents, political parties and alliances, according to which the electoral governorate offices continue to approve the agents of candidates, parties and political alliances, which numbered (421) agents, and local monitoring teams The number of which reached (320) teams until 15/7/2021, in addition to the accreditation of local media professionals.
