The Mackinac Bridge in Michigan was closed because of an “active bomb threat”, local media reported, citing Michigan State Police.
Local authorities announced on Sunday that the Mackinac Bridge, connecting the cities of St. Ignace and Mackinaw City, had been closed due to an “emergency situation”, and urged the public to stay clear of the area.
“Mackinac Bridge is CLOSED to all traffic due to an emergency incident. Please stay clear of the area!”, bridge authorities said, adding that it is unclear when it will be re-opened.
In an official statement, state police confirmed that the bridge “is currently closed”, without providing additional details.
