The President Barham Salih discussed on Tuesday with the US Foreign Secretary Mike Pompeo the bilateral relations and the last Arabic and regional developments.
The Media Office of the presidency issued a statement today saying Salih confirmed during his meeting with Pompeo on the importance of the strategic partnership with the USA to Iraq as it commit with its balance policy to build friendship and cooperation with all friendly and neighboring countries, including Iran.
The President asserted that Iraq builds its relations on the basis of putting its interests as the first priority; referring Iraq has got back to play its basic role in the region and a place gathering all sides to have discussion and understanding away from conflicts and disputes, the statement showed.
From his side, Pompeo praised Iraqi efforts to stabilize the region and attracting investments and foreign experts, as well as its distinguished relations with the USA, the statement concluded.
