The Independent High Electoral Commission (IHEC) disclosed its procedures for the special vote that will take place on the 8th of next October, and indicated: “The announcement of the results of the special vote will be announced with the results of the general vote.”
IHEC’s spokeswoman Jumana al-Ghalay stated, in a statement : “The IHEC coordinated with the Ministry of Immigration to count the locations of the displaced and their camps, and a technical committee was formed by the commission headed by Judge Fayyad Yassin to count the number of voters from the displaced who are in those camps”.
She added, “The technical committee recorded and updated the data of the displaced and distributed biometric cards to them, bringing them to 120 thousand and 126 voters who will vote in 309 polling stations during the special voting day.”
She added that “the number of soldiers and security forces participating in the special vote is 1,076 million, who will vote in 2,584 polling stations,” noting that “the number of inmates who are entitled to participate in the special ballot exceeds 600 inmates of those convicted under five years. They have 7 polling stations.
Regarding the exclusion of some inmates who are imprisoned from participating in the special vote, Al-Ghalay confirmed: “Inmates of convicts under five years of age have the right to participate in the special vote and through the biometric card exclusively according to the new election law.”
She added that “the results of the special vote will be calculated on the same polling day, but it will be announced with the results of the general vote,” stressing that “all those covered by the special vote have updated their electoral data and have new biometric cards that they will vote with exclusively.”
