The Chairman of the Board of Commissioners of the Iraqi High Electoral Commission (IHEC), Judge Jalil Adnan, confirmed that the results of the parliamentary elections will be announced within 24 hours while indicating that the official participation rate will be determined within two hours.
Judge Adnan said, during a press conference held at the headquarters of the IHEC and attended by “Al-Ghadeer”, that “the Commission sent messages of confidence and reassurance to the Iraqi street that their voices are a great trust in our necks,” noting that “the Commission quickly took the initiative to report the technical defect, immediately addressed and Its procedures are clear.
He added, “The commission is determined to complete the electoral process in a sober and fair manner,” stressing that “the announcement of the election results will be quick within 24 hours, and the participation rate will be announced within two hours.”
He pointed out that “the electoral process witnessed high discipline inside the polling stations in a proud manner,” noting that “the Commission will issue decisions regarding electoral violations and be published on the official website of the High Electoral Commission.”
On Sunday, evening, general polling stations were closed in all Iraqi provinces, as part of the first early parliamentary elections after 2003, after they opened their doors to vote at 7 am Baghdad time (4 am GMT).
