Head of counter-terrorism service denies being removed from office

The head of the counter-terrorism service, Lt. Gen. Abdul Wahab al-Saadi, denied on Thursday reports that he had been relieved of his post.

“The news published by mass media and social media about my exemption from my post is untrue,” al-Saadi said.

“The anti-terrorist forces are continuing to pursue ISIS terrorist gangs in Iraq,” he said, calling for “caution in transmitting information and to investigate their sources.”
