MOE: advanced competitive positions for 22 Iraqi universities in the QS World Classification

The Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research announced, today, Thursday, that 22 Iraqi universities have achieved important competitive ranks in the QS World Classification in its version for the universities of the Arab region for the year 2022.

Twenty-two Iraqi universities attended and competed with an increase of 6 universities over last year’s edition, where the University of Baghdad ranked 26 out of one hundred and eighty-one Arab universities that competed according to academic reputation standards 30%, employers’ reputation 20%, and the proportion of faculty members compared to the number of students 15 The international scientific research network is 10%, the electronic influence is 5%, the percentage of PhD holders is 5%, the citations for each research paper is 5%, the research papers for each teaching staff are 5%, the percentage of international faculty members is 2.5%, and the percentage of international students is 2.5%.”.

In addition to that “this version appeared It has a number of universities that compete for the first time in this world ranking, namely the Middle Euphrates Technical Universities, Information and Communication Technology, Nineveh and Fallujah, while Al-Kitab National University has emerged for the first time as well.

The ministry indicated that “Iraqi public and private universities and colleges have their presence and their rising competition in international rankings, especially The Times classification, in which there are currently four Iraqi universities, and the QS classification, in which there are five universities, as well as its current version for the Arab region, and the Scimago classification, in which there are twenty-two universities.” And the Greenmetric classification, in which sixty-one Iraqi universities entered, and the URAP classification, in which four Iraqi universities are present, in addition to the Webometrics classification, which recorded the attendance and competition of eighty-two Iraqi universities and colleges, while the Scientific Research Index in the global publishing containers showed that Iraq ranked forty-fifth globally and ranked sixth in the East Middle and third Arab.
