Iraqi Electoral Commission announced on Saturday that it had accepted 234 appeals against the election results, after evaluating 340 appeals.
The commission said in a statement that Al-Ghadeer received a copy of it, “The Independent High Electoral Commission continues today, Saturday, October 23, to study the appeals submitted to it, as they were audited by the concerned department, and accordingly, 340 appeals were presented to the Board of Commissioners today, Saturday, and after completing The necessary investigative measures in light of the evidence and the submitted recommendation, the Council recommended the dismissal of 322 appeals for various reasons, the most important of which is the lack of evidence for the appeal, or its violation of the provisions of Article 38 / first of the Iraqi Parliament Elections Law in force, as the appellant did not specify the station or center whose results are appealed, as well as: His request to open all the stations of the electoral district or to prove that the announced results match, and these appeals will be sent with a recommendation to the Judicial Commission for Elections to decide on them in accordance with the law.
She added, “The council decided to approve the re-counting and manual counting of 234 of the contested electoral stations based on 18 appeals distributed over the governorates: Salah al-Din and Basra, in addition to Baghdad, as it was supported by evidence, and the council will make the appropriate recommendation regarding it after completing the procedures Manual counting, as the counting and counting of votes will be done manually in the presence of representatives of the competing candidates at these stations according to dates, procedures, and mechanisms to be determined later and notified before an appropriate period of time.
“The Commission will continue to consider the rest of the appeals, successively, provided that it states the daily position of the appeals in continuous statements in the light of what is being considered daily until they are all completed,” she continued,
