Al-Fateh Alliance spokesman, Ahmed Al-Asadi, confirmed that the coordinating framework consists of 120-130 deputies.
Al-Asadi said in a televised interview, which was followed by “Al-Ghadir”: “Mr. Al-Sadr and Al-Maliki exchanged messages, and then a phone call took place between them,” noting that “Mr. Al-Sadr’s call with Al-Maliki represented a breakthrough in the political process.”
He continued, “The Al-Hanana meeting focused on the understandings regarding the selection of the prime minister,” adding that “Sadr will not neglect the Shiites’ right to form the largest bloc.”
He explained that “Mr. Jaafar al-Sadr is the only candidate to head the government,” noting that “the coordinating framework agrees with the slogan “Neither Eastern nor Western” put forward by Mr. Al-Sadr.”
And he said, “We aspire to form a strong government in return for a strong opposition in Parliament,” stressing, “We need a practical change within the framework of forming the government and its personalities.”
