Iraq’s Ministry of Health said on Friday (April 15) it recorded 204 coronavirus infections and five deaths in the country over the past 24 hours.
Of that total, 65 of the newest cases are in Baghdad governorate, along with 27 in Basra, twenty-one in Karbala, fifteen in Sulaimani, fourteen in Babil, eleven in Erbil, eleven in Wasit, nine in Duhok, nine in Maysan, eight in Najaf, five in Diyala, three in Dhi Qar, three in Muthanna, two in Anbar, and one in Diwaniya.
The ministry reported five patients died from COVID-19, the disease caused by the coronavirus infection, and 585 recovered from it.
Meanwhile, 12,576 people were vaccinated in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region.
According to the ministry, 10,446,530 people have been vaccinated in Iraq, a country of more than 40 million, since the shipment of vaccines arrived on February 28.
There have been 2,322,938 officially-recorded cases of coronavirus across Iraq since the virus first appeared in the country.
At least 2,291,660 patients have recovered from COVID-19 and a total of 25,197 people have died from it in Iraq. The numbers are almost certainly an undercount.
