Today, Thursday, Iraq and Britain discussed the issues of water and the displaced, as well as the implementation of service projects.
A statement by the Presidency of the Republic, which was followed by (Al-Ghadir), stated that “President of the Republic, Abdul Latif Rashid, met today, Thursday, the British Ambassador to Iraq, Mark Bryson Richardson, on the sidelines of the Middle East Peace and Security Forum held in Dohuk Governorate.”
He added, “During the meeting, the President of the Republic spoke about the current challenges facing Iraq, the most important of which is the water issue, noting the need for the relevant parties to engage in constructive dialogue to reach successful solutions that secure fair water shares for each party.”
According to the statement, “The President talked about his visit to the Sharya camp for the displaced in Dohuk Governorate, stressing the necessity of working to close the file of this human tragedy that affected Iraqis with their various components and affiliations as a result of the cowardly ISIS terrorism that tried to tamper with civil and social peace.”
In a related context, Latif explained, “The time has come to implement service projects, especially the construction of schools, universities, hospitals and roads, which will reflect positively on the lives of citizens and raise the economic reality of the country.”
The statement concluded, “The bilateral relations between Iraq and the United Kingdom and ways to develop them were also discussed, as Ambassador Richardson affirmed the keenness of the United Kingdom and its serious desire to strengthen its historical relations with Iraq to include all fields in a manner that secures the achievement of the higher interests of the two friendly countries and peoples.”
