Barcelona Reportedly Has Not Thrown Towel on Signing Messi

The future of Lionel Messi remains uncertain as his contract with Paris Saint-Germain expires in June and he’s yet to reveal where he plans to play next season.

While it appears as though Saudi Arabia is out of the question, FC Barcelona remains lurking, hoping that a reunion is possible. Mundo Deportivo reports, citing sources, that Barcelona is exploring all solutions for Messi.

Even if they consider that the return of the Argentinian remains complicated, the Spanish club leaders have not thrown in the towel.

The Catalan side is studying a scenario in which Leo would adapt his salary to the reality of Barcelona’s wage bill in exchange for a percentage of the new income he would generate with a high-profile return.

After the player’s departure in 2021, Barcelona president Joan Laporta continues to dream of a Messi return. But in a challenging economic context, the La Liga club would seek the best way to make a competitive offer for the 2022 FIFA World Cup winner.
