Italian club AC Milan have been excluded from next season’s Europa League, after failing to abide by the UEFA Financial Fair Play regulations.
The Court of Arbitration for Sport announced that the Serie A giants will play no part in Europe’s secondary club tournament during the 2019-2020 season, as a consequence of overspending during the 2015 to 2018 monitoring periods.
Meanwhile, Milan, who finished the season 5th, have struck a deal with UEFA to serve the 1-year ban, so that the authorities would terminate the proceedings. A.S Roma and Torino stand to gain from the ban, as Roma will move up to the Europa League group stage without having to play in the qualifying round, which is taken by 7th placed Torino.
